Why I Started a 30-Day Weighted Walking Challenge

Although it’s important, I didn’t start this just to “move more.” I started it because I want to lean out, tighten up, and feel better in my body. But at this stage of life, I also know that doing more — or going harder — isn’t always the answer.

After years in the fitness world, and now being in midlife myself, I’ve learned that our bodies don’t respond the same way they used to. More intensity doesn’t always mean better results. And pushing harder can sometimes leave you more exhausted than anything else. So instead of jumping into something extreme, I decided to focus on something simple and effective: Walking.


Why Walking (Especially in Midlife)

Walking is one of the most underrated tools when it comes to fat loss and body composition.

It helps:

  • Support fat loss without spiking stress hormones

  • Improve metabolism in a sustainable way

  • Increase daily calorie burn without overtraining

  • Support recovery so your body can actually respond

And when you add a weighted vest, you’re also:

  • Increasing the demand on your muscles

  • Supporting strength and muscle retention

  • Helping “tighten up” over time


What I’m Doing

This isn’t about being perfect. I’ve never strived for that and I never will. It’s about showing up consistently, which can be a struggle even for me. I’m aiming for daily walks, adding a weighted vest when it feels right, and focusing on building a habit I can actually maintain. Some days will be longer. Some days will be slower. Some days I won’t use the vest at all. And that’s okay. Because consistency beats intensity every time.

  • Managing stress

  • Recovering properly

  • And staying consistent

This is the part most women miss.
